Produk yang menarik perhatian saya adalah produk batik. Tapi saya tidak ingin batik yang biasa, tidak ingin batik yang banyak tersedia di pasaran. Saya ingin batik yang unik, berkualitas, dengan harga yang tetap terjangkau. Setelah berkeliling cukup lama, saya menemukan produk batik gedog.

Ketika itu, Bupati Tuban Rini Widiastuti dan Gubernur Jawa Timur Sukarwo memperlihatkan produk Batik Tuban kepada Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono dan Ny Ani Yudhoyono. Presiden SBY dan Ny. Batik gedog disebut juga batik Tuban karena memang berasal dari salah satu kabupaten di Jawa Timur tersebut. Tuban adalah kabupaten berpenduduk kurang lebih 1 juta jiwa. Kota ini dikenal sebagai “Kota Wali” karena tercatat sebagai salah satu kota yang menjadi pusat penyebaran agama Islam. Beberapa obyek wisata di Tuban merupakan wisata religi seperti makam Sunan Bonang,  makam Syek Maulana Ibrahim Asmaraqandi, makam Sunan Bejagung, dll.

Tuban sendiri bermakna “watu tiban” atau batu yang jatuh dari langit. Batu yang dimaksud adalah batu pusaka yang dibawa sepasang burung dari Majapahit menuju Demak. Ketika berada di atas kota Tuban, batu tersebut jatuh dan kota itu pun dinamakan “Tuban”. Versi lain mengatakan Tuban bermakna “metu banyu” atau “keluar air”. Hal ini merujuk pada peristiwa ketika Raden Dandang Wacana (Kyai Gede Papringan) yang merupakan Bupati pertama di sana membuka Hutan Papringan. Ketika pembukaan tersebut, keluar air yang sangat deras.
